God sent Jesus to die on the cross, to die for our sins, so that we might be reconciled with Him.
Truth: You don’t purposely sacrifice someone dear to you to help people unless you really, really care about them.
Bible Verses Pointing to God’s Goodness in Sending Jesus to the Cross
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Romans 5:8: “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
You are loved more than you will ever know by someone who died to know you. (Ref. Romans 5:8)
1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.”
John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
Note: Later on in John 15, Jesus calls us “friends.”
